IxD Project: Floor Projection Mapping Setup (Critics & Refinement)
Floor Projection-Mapping Setup
Critics & Feedbacks
There was a critic session held to get feedbacks and critics from peers and lecturers. I will list down all the critics below. First of all, the animations take too much time. It does not have a rigid reason for the user to continue stepping within the circles because there are no animations playing and the feedback from the lines is too subtle. It was suggested to add some narrations to let users know what's the purpose of the graphics and animations. They should know what's the point standing and stepping around the circle. I should cut down the time and add some audio to improve the overall atmosphere.
Secondly, the feedback from the lines is too subtle. It's not inviting enough. Thus, I should tweak the formula and smooth time in order to get instant feedback when the user steps on it. For right now, I should minimize the smooth time to get very engaging feedback.
Thirdly, I was suggested to take out the looping of circles when nobody steps on it. This is because, for ixd experience, we shouldn't control users what they should do to gain the experience. We should always provide engaging and instant feedback to tell them what should they do. Thus, there are some improvements and changes to be made.
Problems & Challenges
There were some problems occur during the setup. For instance, the animations keep flickering after building it. One way to solve this issue is that I have to preload the animations first in build settings before building them. Besides, the Lidar could not track the area on the right side. To solve this issue, the scale of the game object of RpLidar should always reset to the scale of 0 0 0.

Fourth Attempt on Visual Coding

At this stage, the movement of lines is more natural compared to the beginning stage. Besides, the feedbacks are more obvious and each circle has different graphics and stories to tell with. I also change the animations of the city by rotating it and replace animations of birds (night) with cargo ships to represent Port Klang.
