IxD Project: Ideation & Project Concept
Idea & Concept
Step Back in Time
This project is basically to portray the authenticity of Klang by using the graphics of layering of lines which indicates time is stacking over years and years. Thus, the changes of a day in Klang will be shown through floor projection mapping. When the user steps on it, it will trigger the animations and they can see the changes of Klang from morning to night. There will be different graphic assets to represent the key visual of Klang. For example, silhouette of crows, abstract form of city and port Klang. Users will get to experience the changes of visuals with audio and SFX when they are stepping within the circle. Besides, the user can also step on the lines and interact with the lines to stimulate a fluid-like motion between the lines. This is to create feedback within the spatial space.
Idea 1
1.The installation is displayed in a space(room without doors) whereby outside the room is a waiting area for the tourists
2.The room is busy with noises first with random topology lines
3.Lines will move when the user steps on it
4.There is a designated spot with decorations
5.User step on it, the animation will start to generate, noises stop, the ambiance of the city start to play
6.As the user steps longer, it will generate more and more lines and graphic elements and it will become brighter
Idea 1.2
1.Mainly focus on artifact 2
2.Lines generating on the floor
3.When the user steps on the inner lines, it will only form very tiny, small buildings
4.When the user steps on the outer lines, it will form more symbolic lines and buildings, the most outer lines have crows flying around
Idea 2
1.3 different screens at the hotel waiting area, three screens associated with headphone
2.Instructions will be given based on audio
3.Screen will have a random topology shape, there will be dotted lines for the user to trace
4.When the user follow the tracing, it will forms graphics, followed by ambiance// sound being heard in the headphone
Idea 3
1.It will have 3 cylinder buttons, (day, afternoon, night) and the screen appears the clock ticking // numbers
2.The user can choose which input they want to experience
For example, if they choose the day, they have to put their hands on a sensor and it will start to generate the graphics on the wall, the longer they put their hands on it, it will generate more and more layers and more and more birds flying around
4.Audio will also generate continuously
5.If they let go of their hand, everything will go back to normal
At last, Idea 1 which uses the idea of floor-projection mapping is being chosen.
Concept Video Mock Up
This is a very rough video mock-up as the visual of lines will only be seen through visual coding. Besides, the visual assets will have to amend during the project development stage. However, we could roughly understand how does the transition of circles will transit from one to another through this video.
