Case Study 4 -Quantum Space

 

Introduction

Quantum Space is an interactive light installation by Ku-Flex Visual Labs, digital artist Igor Tatarnikov, installed in M’ARS Gallery, Moscow.Entering this room you are disintegrating into quantums of light and communicating with universe. It’s an interactive video installation which captures human’s siluettes and use them for particles generation and controlling.

Technical Details

1.Devices : 3 computers, 6 projectors, 6 depth cameras Asus Xtion.
2.Custom software: Tracker and render modules were made with openFrameworks, module for 3.automation of all parameters and presets was made with Max6.
4.The walls in this room are fully covered with interactive projections. 
5.The artist linked the projectors, computers, and motion tracking cameras together with openFrameworks software to create a digital mirror.
6.Abstract visualizations generated real-time from all movements of participants and from some automated parameters.

Interaction

Based on the Quantum Dance, it increases the level of aesthetic of performance and make it more interesting. When the dancer dance around, the real-time projection will track the movement of dance and make the whole performance looks more engaging.
